Reuters: Khalilzad caused America’s biggest diplomatic failure in Afghanistan!

by Hewad Press

A number of former and current US officials have told Reuters that Zalmai Khalilzad, the US special envoy for the Afghan peace process, has caused the biggest diplomatic failure in US history. Some US officials told Reuters on condition of anonymity that Khalilzad had favored more the Taliban during the Afghan peace process, and those efforts had weakened the Afghan government’s position. Likewise, he had little interest in hearing different viewpoints within the U.S. government. U.S. Michael Waltz also criticized Khalilzad, telling Reuters that Khalilzad should either resign or be relieved from his position because of the crisis in Afghanistan. Reuters tried to get Khalilzad’s response to the US officials’ criticisms, but Khalilzad declined to comment on the Reuters report.
