In a press conference today held at the state capital of Connecticut, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, joined by refugee groups, announced bipartisan legislation in support of Afghan refugee crises.

“Hundreds of Americans and thousands of Afghans are in danger following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August” Sen. Blumenthal said.

According to Senator Blumenthal, this legislation will require the Biden administration to take seven specific steps to prioritize certain refugee programs, including assisting in evacuation, diplomatic support, and a surge in resources to speed up processing.

This legislation is cosponsored by the Republican U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Joni Ernst.

“Official numbers indicates that around 25 million people currently marching toward starvation to death in Afghanistan, good people who are helped U.S. mission in Afghanistan, whom helped United State when it needed, they stood side by side with us and fought the war against terror, a hard time friends, now are stranded behind in enemy line, now they need our help, it’s our moral obligation to help our war time allies and good friends”, IRIS Refugee Ambassador Hewad Hemat said.

Hemat further added that, “those stranded Afghan allies from one side  are in danger of execution from the enemy and from the other side they are moving toward starvation, so, if they don’t get help on time, good people and good friends will die and get killed”.
