The Taliban publicly flogged nine and hacked of hands of 4, who they were convicted of robbery and sodomy in Kandahar’s Ahmad Shahi Stadium.
According to the Taliban Supreme Court statement: “13 people were punished in Ahmad Shahi Stadium in Kandahar on Tuesday on charges of robbery and sodomy. Nine men were flogged, and four men hands were hacked off while hundreds of Kandhar residents and Taliban officials witnessed this event.
Earlier in December, the Taliban publicly executed a man in Farah city, Farah province, marking its first public execution since its return to power in August 2021.
By carrying out these public punishments, Taliban signaling the world that they have not abandoned their style of ruling which adheres to a hardline interpretation of Islam.
