International Criminal Court Issues Arrest Warrants for Hamas and Israeli Leaders!

by Hewad Hemat

On November 21, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif (Mohammed Diab Ibrahim al-Masri), Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

In its latest statement, the ICC announced that it has evidence implicating these three individuals in war crimes and acts against humanity. However, in response to these allegations, both Hamas and Israeli leaders rejected the charges and declared themselves innocent. Netanyahu condemned the court’s decision, accusing the ICC of antisemitism, while Hamas welcomed the court’s action against Israel but dismissed the charges related to its own leader.

It is noteworthy that the ICC has 124 member states, but the United States and Israel are not among them. Whether the court will be able to bring these leaders to justice remains to be seen. So far, the ICC has struggled to take action against leaders of powerful nations.
