The Jordanian state news agency, Petra, citing the Public Security Directorate, reported that police shot a gunman who had fired at officers in the affluent Rabiah district of the capital. The report stated that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
According to security sources, the gunman, who was carrying an automatic weapon, was pursued for at least an hour before being cornered and killed shortly before dawn.
Jordan’s Minister of Information, Mohammad Momani, described the incident as a terrorist attack targeting public security forces. He stated in a declaration that investigations into the event are underway.
