Reports from Pakistani news sources indicate that clashes between protesters from Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and the police have resulted in the death of a Punjab police officer and injuries to over 50 others.
The PTI party has announced a large-scale protest at D-Chowk in Islamabad, demanding the release of their leader, Imran Khan. According to reports, PTI supporters have been trying to reach Islamabad for the past two days, but police have set up significant barriers to block their paths.
Amid these developments, clashes have occurred in various locations between the police and protesters. Arbab Asim, a PTI leader from Peshawar, told the media that numerous obstacles have been created to block the protesters, and getting past these barriers will take time.
In addition to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, PTI supporters from other parts of Pakistan are also heading toward Islamabad.
Meanwhile, Islamabad police claim that the protesters are throwing stones at them with intensity, leading to the death of one police officer and injuries to many others.
It is worth mentioning that Imran Khan and several of his party leaders have been imprisoned for the past two years, and their supporters are now making efforts to secure their release.
