Three Suspects Arrested in UAE for the Murder of a Moldovan-Israeli Citizen

The UAE Ministry of Interior announced in a recent statement that three suspects were arrested yesterday in connection with the murder of a Moldovan-Israeli citizen. Authorities identified the arrested individuals as Mahmoudjan Abdurahim (28), Alambai Tahiryevich (28), and Azizbek Kamlovich (33), all citizens of Uzbekistan.

The body of the victim, Tsvi Kogan, was discovered on November 22 in the city of Al Ain. Kogan ran a kosher food shop in Dubai and served as a representative of the Orthodox Jewish group, Chabad. His disappearance had been reported several days earlier.

UAE authorities stated that investigations into the incident are ongoing. While no country or group has been directly blamed for the murder, Iran has denied any involvement in the case. However, Israeli officials have suggested possible Iranian involvement, citing recent threats from Tehran against Israel.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office described the murder of Tsvi Kogan as a “heinous anti-Semitic terrorist act.” Similarly, Moldovan President Maia Sandu condemned the incident, stating, “Hatred has no place in the world. Our condolences go out to the victim’s family and the entire Jewish community.”

It is worth noting that the UAE normalized relations with Israel in 2020 through the Abraham Accords. Known globally for its security, stability, and religious tolerance, the UAE is considered a safe haven for the Jewish community.
