Pakistan: All schools in Islamabad and Punjab closed due to security concerns!

by Hewad Press

All schools in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, and the Punjab province were closed today, December 16, due to security concerns.

According to media sources, Pakistan’s intelligence agencies have issued warnings of possible suicide attacks by unidentified militants targeting schools in Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and other areas. As a precautionary measure, the Punjab provincial authorities have ordered the closure of all schools.

The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) stated to the media that their intelligence suggests the attackers comprise a 10-member group, six of whom are believed to be suicide bombers. Reports indicate that the attacks may target Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.

This comes amid a recent surge in insecurity across several cities in Pakistan. The Pakistani government has attributed these incidents to the presence of “anti-Pakistan militant groups” allegedly operating from Afghanistan. However, the Taliban government in Afghanistan has consistently denied these claims.
