Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has announced the arrest of the individual responsible for the assassination of General Igor Kirillov, commander of Russia’s Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense Forces, in a bombing incident yesterday.
According to the FSB, the arrested suspect is a 29-year-old Uzbek national who, they claim, was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence to carry out the assassination. The FSB further stated that the suspect confessed to being promised $100,000 and a European passport in exchange for killing the general.
The agency also released a video of the suspect’s confession, where he admitted to committing the crime.
It is worth noting that General Kirillov was killed yesterday in a bomb explosion near his home.
