The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army announced on December 21 that 16 soldiers were killed in a militant attack.
According to the statement, the incident occurred in the South Waziristan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where militants targeted a security checkpoint. The military has attributed responsibility for the attack to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and stated that operations are underway to apprehend the attackers.
It is worth noting that Pakistan’s security situation has deteriorated in recent months. Over the past 10 months, 1,566 attacks have been carried out against security forces, resulting in the deaths of approximately 924 personnel.
