by Hewad Press

Reports from Finland indicate that an undersea power cable named Estlink 2, connecting Estonia and Finland, has been severed. Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo confirmed the incident and announced that the government has initiated an investigation into the matter.

Fingrid, the company responsible for closely monitoring the power link, reported that they became aware of the incident at 10:26 AM Greenwich Mean Time. The severance of the cable has reduced its electricity transmission capacity from 1,016 megawatts to 358 megawatts.

This cable, which serves as a crucial energy connection between Estonia and Finland, plays an important role in meeting the region’s energy needs. Officials stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the disruption.
