The aviation authorities of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have announced the suspension of flights to several Russian cities due to concerns over the unsafe airspace of Russia.
This decision comes after an Azerbaijani civilian plane en route from Baku to the Russian city of Grozny was mistakenly targeted by Russia’s air defense system last Wednesday. The incident resulted in the crash of the plane, killing 38 passengers and injuring 29 others.
