According to a recent statement released by the Afghan Foreign Ministry under the Taliban administration, Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi held a telephonic conversation with Asaad Hassan Al-Shibani, the Foreign Minister of Syria’s transitional government.
The statement mentioned that Muttaqi congratulated Al-Shibani on the ousting of the Assad regime and his appointment as Foreign Minister. He praised the new government’s conciliatory stance, amnesty policies, and efforts toward good governance, expressing hope for establishing strong diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and Syria.
The Syrian Foreign Minister also expressed hope for the expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries, according to the statement.
