In the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, protesters gathered in front of the parliament during the presidential oath-taking ceremony of Mikheil Kavlashvili.

The demonstrators are protesting against the newly elected president and parliament, rejecting their legitimacy.

Former president Zurabishvili left the residence after Kavlashvili’s oath-taking and joined the protesters amidst applause.

She told the protesters that she was heading to the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and invited everyone to join her.

She added, “If you need protection, I am here.”
