Kabul – Afghanistan International news outlet, citing a credible source within the Taliban, has reported that the body of an American citizen named Jeff Rigsby was discovered in Kabul’s Shahr-e-Naw district.
According to the sources, both U.S. and Taliban officials have reportedly tried to conceal the American’s death for the past month and a half. The sources stated that Jeff Rigsby had been traveling to Afghanistan several times over the past three years, primarily for business related to the country’s mining sector.
The report indicates that his body was found on November 20 at his residence in Shahr-e-Naw, Kabul. The Taliban handed over the body to U.S. officials on November 28, claiming at the time that the cause of death was natural.
Additionally, sources revealed that Jeff Rigsby was detained three times by the Taliban’s intelligence agency during his stay in Afghanistan over the last three years but was released each time.
So far, neither the Taliban government nor U.S. officials have issued any official statements regarding his death.
