Kyiv, January 17, 2025 – Ukraine’s Armed Forces have released updated figures on Russian military losses, highlighting the immense cost of the nearly three-year conflict. According to the report, over 815,000 Russian personnel have been killed since the war began on February 24, 2022, with 1,670 fatalities recorded in the past 24 hours alone.

Breakdown of Losses

The latest statistics shed light on the widespread destruction of Russian military equipment:

• Tanks: 9,803 destroyed, including 12 recently.

• Armored Fighting Vehicles: 20,381, an increase of 13.

• Artillery Systems: 22,019, with 4 losses reported in the past day.

• Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS): 1,262.

• Air Defense Systems: 1,046.

Russian airpower has also been significantly weakened:

• Aircraft: 369.

• Helicopters: 331.

• Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs): 22,566, including 63 lost recently.

In terms of naval and missile capabilities:

• Cruise Missiles: 3,049 intercepted or destroyed.

• Warships and Boats: 28.

• Submarines: 1.

Supporting infrastructure has also been targeted:

• Vehicles and Fuel Tanks: 34,256, with an additional 124 losses.

• Special Equipment Units: 3,699, an increase of 2.

The continued escalation of losses underscores the high intensity of the fighting, particularly in key battlegrounds in eastern and southern Ukraine. Analysts believe the destruction of significant numbers of tanks, armored vehicles, and drones highlights Ukraine’s effective use of Western-supplied weapons and tactics.
