Explosion Reported at Kabul Airport; Taliban Officials Deny Incident!

Kabul – February 17, 2025

Reports have emerged of an explosion inside Kabul International Airport, but Taliban officials have denied the incident.

Local news sources claim that the explosion took place within the airport premises, though no confirmed details have been provided regarding casualties or the nature of the blast. Meanwhile, Kabul police spokesperson Khalid Zadran dismissed the reports, stating, “No explosion has occurred at Kabul Airport.”

However, a video circulating on social media appears to show smoke rising from the airport following the reported explosion, raising further questions.

It is worth noting that since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, strict restrictions have been imposed on the media, and officials frequently withhold information about security incidents. Just last week, the death toll from a suicide bombing at the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing in Kabul was reportedly concealed, with authorities acknowledging only two fatalities, despite sources claiming at least 21 people were killed.
