Washington, D.C. – President Donald J. Trump announced today that he has ordered decisive military action against the Houthi militants in Yemen, following months of escalating attacks on U.S. and allied vessels in the Red Sea and surrounding waters.
In a strongly worded statement, President Trump declared, “Today, I have ordered the United States Military to launch decisive and powerful military action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen.” He accused the Iranian-backed group of waging an “unrelenting campaign of piracy, violence, and terrorism” against American and international ships, aircraft, and drones.
The president criticized the previous administration’s handling of the crisis, stating, “Joe Biden’s response was pathetically weak, so the unrestrained Houthis just kept going.” He pointed out that it has been over a year since a U.S.-flagged commercial vessel safely transited through the Suez Canal, the Red Sea, or the Gulf of Aden. Even the last American warship to pass through the Red Sea four months ago was attacked by the Houthis more than a dozen times, he noted.
According to President Trump, U.S. forces are currently conducting aerial strikes on “the terrorists’ bases, leaders, and missile defenses” in an effort to safeguard American naval assets and restore freedom of navigation. “The Houthi attack on American vessels will not be tolerated. We will use overwhelming lethal force until we have achieved our objective,” he affirmed.
The Houthis, heavily supported by Iran, have launched repeated missile and drone strikes on U.S. and allied forces, inflicting significant disruptions on global trade and commerce. President Trump emphasized that these “relentless assaults have cost the U.S. and world economy many BILLIONS of dollars while putting innocent lives at risk.”
In his statement, President Trump also delivered a stern warning to Iran, demanding an immediate end to its support for the Houthis. “To Iran: Support for the Houthi terrorists must end IMMEDIATELY! Do NOT threaten the American People, their President, or worldwide shipping lanes,” he cautioned.
The president vowed that “no terrorist force will stop American commercial and naval vessels from freely sailing the waterways of the world.” Addressing the Houthi militants directly, he warned, “YOUR TIME IS UP, AND YOUR ATTACKS MUST STOP, STARTING TODAY. IF THEY DON’T, HELL WILL RAIN DOWN UPON YOU LIKE NOTHING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE!”
This military response marks a significant escalation in U.S. efforts to counter Houthi aggression in the region and reassert American dominance in global maritime security. The situation is rapidly developing, and further updates are expected in the coming hours.
