According the initial reports, Pashtoon Tahafuz Movement (PTM) founder and leader Manzoor Ahmad Pashteen along with PTM members such as Idress Pashteen,Bilal Pashteen & other members, on early hours of Friday morning arrested by Khyber Pakhtonway police in Kohat. Meanwhile, several senior members of PTM, politicians and civil rights activists condemned what they called kidnapping of Mr Pashteen. They said the PTM chief had been picked up for speaking for the rights of the Pashtuns. Mr. Pashteen and his movement, widely known by the initials P.T.M., have presented one of the most influential challenges to the military’s dominance of Pakistan as it has cracked down on minorities, journalists and other critics in recent years.

While the P.T.M. focused on demanding justice for the country’s sizable Pashtun minority, its influence quickly grew larger than the movement itself. The large crowds P.T.M. drew to the streets, and the boldness of its leadership in openly challenging the security forces, inspired other advocates to join in.

It’s been said that Manzoor was on his way to join Janikhel protest, which is been staged by local resident against assassination of tribal elder of Janikhel by unknown gunmen.
