Eyewitnesses told the Federation of Independent Journalists of Afghanistan that Waris Hasrat, an anchor for Ariana TV’s political programs, and Aslam Hijab, an economic reporter, were arrested by the Taliban near Ariana TV’s office today. According to eyewitnesses, when Aslam Hijab was arrested, Mr. Waris Hasrat tried to find out the reason for his arrest, but the Taliban later arrested Hasrat for the same reason. So far, Ariana TV has not commented on the arrests, nor has it commented on the Taliban. It is noteworthy that after the collapse of previous Afghan government, the life and employment of journalists in Afghanistan has also become difficult.
