The Taliban authorities in Paktia have announced the implementation of a public execution sentence.

The Taliban’s media office in Paktia, located in southeastern Afghanistan, issued a statement today declaring that they will carry out a public execution on a person accused of murder in the province’s sports stadium. They have also invited the residents of Paktia to attend and witness the sentence. This execution comes at a time when international human rights groups have expressed deep concern over widespread human rights violations, the absence of impartial courts, and the existence of secret prisons and torture under the Taliban’s rule in Afghanistan.
