Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban government in Kabul, stated during the funeral of the slain Minister for Refugee Affairs, Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, that ISIS attacks in Afghanistan are planned and organized in neighboring countries.
In his speech, Muttaqi said: “In the past seven months, ISIS has carried out seven attacks that resulted in casualties. Of these, six were planned outside Afghanistan.”
He further emphasized that investigations into the recent attack would be conducted, and the findings would soon be revealed: “We will investigate this incident and determine who is behind it and where its roots lie.”
During his speech, Muttaqi issued a warning, saying: “Providing shelter to ISIS militants is in no one’s interest. We call on all countries where these oppressors are present not to turn a blind eye to them. It is harmful both to you and to us. Do not allow these oppressors to have safe havens on your soil.”
Although Muttaqi did not name any specific country, the Taliban have previously accused Pakistan of harboring ISIS hideouts.
It is worth noting that yesterday, a suicide attack was carried out by ISIS inside the Ministry of Refugee Affairs in Kabul. The attack resulted in the death of the acting Minister for Refugee Affairs, Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, a senior member of the Haqqani Network, along with his five bodyguards.
