Afghanistan: 32 Workers Trapped After Coal Mine Collapse in Samangan!

by Hewad Press

In Afghanistan’s northern Samangan province, a coal mine in the Sefid Khak area of Dara-e-Soof district has collapsed, leaving 32 miners trapped inside.

Provincial Taliban officials in Samangan confirmed the incident and stated that rescue operations are ongoing. So far, rescue teams have managed to save 22 workers alive, while efforts to reach the remaining trapped miners continue with urgency.

Taliban officials further reported that additional rescue teams have been dispatched to the area and pledged to do everything possible to save all the workers still trapped inside.

It is worth noting that coal mines in Afghanistan are often prone to accidents due to unregulated and unsafe working conditions, which frequently lead to such tragic incidents.
