Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated today in an interview with Russia’s TASS news agency that Russia will not agree to the Ukraine peace plan proposed by Trump’s team. He emphasized that the proposal, which suggests Ukraine should refrain from pursuing NATO membership for the next 20 years while deploying EU and British peacekeepers to ensure peace in Ukraine, is unacceptable for Russia.
It is worth noting that recent backdoor negotiations, mediated by the United States and France, have been underway to resolve the Ukraine conflict. However, Lavrov’s remarks suggest these talks face significant deadlock and may not be as straightforward as predicted by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
