Last night, the Russian military launched a devastating missile attack on the center of Dobropillya in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, followed by a second strike deliberately targeting emergency responders, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed.
According to Zelenskyy, Russian forces fired two ballistic missiles at the city, killing at least 11 people and injuring more than 30, including five children. Among the damaged structures were eight five-story apartment buildings, an administrative facility, and a fire truck.
“This is a vile and inhumane intimidation tactic often used by the Russians,” Zelenskyy stated, condemning the attack. He expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families and praised emergency workers, police, and medics for their bravery in responding to the crisis despite the risk of further strikes.
The Ukrainian leader emphasized that these attacks demonstrate Russia’s continued aggression and underscored the urgency of strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses and increasing international sanctions against Moscow. “Everything that helps Putin finance the war must collapse,” he asserted.
The attack is the latest in a series of strikes on civilian areas, which President Donald Trump yesterday urged Moscow to stop the war and come to the table for the talk . Trump said Russia is “absolutely ‘pounding’ Ukraine on the battlefield,” prompting him to strongly consider large-scale banking sanctions, tariffs, and other economic penalties until a ceasefire and a final peace deal are reached.
