A senior officer of Pakistan’s Special Services Group (SSG), Captain Hasnain Akhtar, lost his life in an ambush by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in the Karri Malang area of Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The attack, which took place during an ongoing military operation, also left three other soldiers injured.
According to an official with direct knowledge of the situation, at least seven TTP militants have been killed so far in retaliatory action by security forces. The operation is still ongoing as Pakistani forces continue their efforts to eliminate the threat in the region.
The ambush underscores the persistent security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tribal belt, where TTP militants have intensified attacks on security personnel in recent months. The Pakistan Army has been conducting counterterrorism operations in the region to curb the resurgence of militant activity.
