Lakki Marwat/Bannu, —A police officer was shot dead in broad daylight in the bustling Sarai Naurang market early this morning. The officer, identified as Hashim Khan, was targeted by unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle in Lakki Marwat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The attackers managed to flee the scene, and an investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, a police post in Bannu district, which had been repeatedly attacked amid the recent surge in violence across southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was found displaying the flag of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The post, located within the jurisdiction of Ahmadzai police station, had been vacated by security personnel just days ago.

A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the post was abandoned as part of a strategic move to reinforce security. “The number of attackers has been increasing, and with limited manpower, police have been forced to make tactical withdrawals,” the official explained.

The incidents highlight the escalating security challenges in the region, where militant activity has intensified in recent months. Security forces are on high alert as efforts continue to contain the threat posed by insurgent groups.
